Privacy Policy Overview
Nobel Gemini Ventures, doing business as Kurbside ("Kurbside," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the website gokurbside.com and related mobile applications that allow users to book airport transfers in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas with independent drivers ("Services"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices available to you.
Scope and Applicability
This Privacy Policy applies to riders, visitors, and other users who access or use gokurbside.com or our rider-facing mobile applications (collectively, the "Platform"), as well as to driver applicants and drivers who use our separate driver onboarding and driver-facing applications. It covers personal information collected online (through our website, apps, and communications) and in connection with the Services we provide in California and elsewhere in the United States. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites or services that are not controlled by Kurbside even if accessed through links on our Platform.
Business Information and Contact
Kurbside is owned and operated by Nobel Gemini Ventures, DBA Kurbside, with a mailing address of 9250 Reseda Blvd #10059, Northridge, CA 91324. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your privacy rights, you may contact us at legal@gokurbside.com. We may also provide additional contact methods, such as a support email or online form, on our Platform.
Information We Collect From Riders
When riders create accounts, book airport transfers, or interact with the Platform, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, password, and billing or contact address. We also collect trip-related information including pickup and drop-off locations, times and dates, flight information, and any special instructions you provide, along with booking history and preferences. For payments, we process data through our payment processor (currently Stripe), and we typically receive limited payment-related information such as masked card details and transaction identifiers rather than full card numbers. In addition, we collect device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, app version, and interaction logs with our Platform.
Information We Collect From Drivers
From driver applicants and drivers using our separate driver onboarding and driver-facing applications, we collect personal and professional information including name, contact details, driver's license information, vehicle registration and insurance, background check information, payout/banking details, and other information necessary to evaluate eligibility and support driver participation in the marketplace. Background checks may be performed through third-party providers and may include driving record, criminal history, and verification of identity and eligibility as required by law and our safety policies. We also collect driver usage and performance data, including trip records, ratings, and communications with riders and Kurbside.
Information Collected Automatically (Cookies and Analytics)
We use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to collect information about how users interact with our Platform. This includes Google Analytics (GA4), which uses cookies and app instance IDs to measure user interactions, as well as Facebook pixels and Google Ads tags to support advertising and performance measurement. These technologies help us understand usage patterns, improve the user experience, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. Device and usage data may include IP addresses, device identifiers, pages viewed, links clicked, app screens visited, and the time and date of visits.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for purposes including:
- Providing, operating, and improving the Platform and Services, including processing bookings, matching riders with independent drivers, and supporting trip management.
- Communicating with you about your account, bookings, support requests, and important updates such as changes to our policies or security notices.
- Facilitating payments and payouts via Stripe, including fraud detection, chargeback handling, and financial reconciliation.
- Conducting analytics and research using tools like Google Analytics to understand performance, troubleshoot issues, and develop new features.
- Conducting driver onboarding, background checks, compliance reviews, and safety monitoring to protect riders, drivers, and the public.
- Marketing and advertising our Services, including measurement and limited remarketing activities through Google Ads and Facebook, in accordance with applicable law and your choices.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we strive not to share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in a way that would be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under CCPA/CPRA. We may, however, share personal information with:
- Service providers and contractors that perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing (Stripe), communications (Twilio), analytics (Google Analytics), advertising and measurement services (Google Ads, Facebook pixels), background check providers, hosting, and customer support.
- Independent drivers, to the extent necessary to fulfill your bookings, including information such as your name, phone number, pickup and drop-off locations, and trip details.
- Professional advisors, auditors, or insurers in connection with business operations, risk management, or legal compliance.
- Government authorities or law enforcement when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with legal claims, disputes, or regulatory inquiries.
Where we share information with service providers and contractors, we do so under contracts that limit their use of personal information to performing services for us and require appropriate safeguards.
Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking Choices
You can manage cookies and similar technologies in your browser or device settings, which may allow you to block or delete certain cookies and limit tracking. GA4 and other analytics tools provide additional options, such as browser add-ons or advertising opt-out mechanisms, to restrict the use of cookies and identifiers. If we engage in activities that qualify as "selling" or "sharing" personal information under CCPA/CPRA in the future, we will provide a clear and conspicuous "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on our homepage and relevant pages to allow California residents to exercise their opt-out rights.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have rights under CCPA/CPRA with respect to your personal information, including the rights to know, access, delete, correct, and, where applicable, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information. You may also have the right to receive information about the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and the categories of third parties to whom it is disclosed. We will provide methods, such as an online request form and email contact (legal@gokurbside.com), for you to submit requests to exercise these rights and will respond as required by law, subject to verification and applicable exemptions.
Marketing Communications and Opt-Out
We may send you marketing emails or SMS messages (e.g., via Twilio) about promotions, new features, or services that may interest you. You can opt out of marketing emails by using the "unsubscribe" link in those emails and opt out of SMS marketing by following the opt-out instructions in the messages or changing your preferences in your account. We will continue to send you non-marketing messages that are necessary to provide the Services, such as booking confirmations, trip updates, or important notices.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, support legitimate business and legal purposes (such as accounting, dispute resolution, and safety obligations), and comply with applicable laws. This may include retaining trip records and driver information for multi-year periods to address claims, regulatory requirements, and tax obligations. When information is no longer needed, we will delete it or anonymize it consistent with our data retention policies.
Security
We use reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, role-based access controls, and limiting access to data to personnel who need it to perform their job duties. We host our systems on reputable infrastructure providers and employ security practices designed to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of personal information. No system is completely secure, but we strive to monitor for vulnerabilities and respond promptly to potential incidents.
Children and Eligibility
Our Platform and Services are intended for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18, and accounts may not be created by or for minors without an adult exercising control. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18 without proper authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or technology. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on gokurbside.com and update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Your continued use of the Platform after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
